Are you a trust fund baby like Donald Trump? Do you have a well funded pension or 401(K) to see you through retirement? If not, then what’s being implemented and proposed by Trump should scare the hell out of you.
The suspension of the payroll tax for the immediate future and the promise to permanently terminate it is another one of this president’s ways of declaring war against current and future Social Security and Medicare beneficiaries.
Are You Retired Or Nearing Retirement?
As of today, with no suspension of payroll taxes, the Social Security fund could be depleted by 2029 and could prompt a 31% reduction in retirement benefits.
As of today, with no suspension of payroll taxes, the Medicare fund could be depleted by 2026.
These are all without any account for the current pandemic sweeping our nation.
Now, imagine that the 15.3% LEVY ON PAYROLL TAXES, evenly divided between employers and workers were terminated or substantially reduced.
The retirement safety net of the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds would be so weakened so as to run out of money even before the years listed above.
To insure this will not happen, this president must be removed from office. He must be voted out in November. This is not the time to sit idle and hope this was just a bad dream. This is the scary reality we are living through right now.
The only way to insure the Social Security and Medicare funds continue to be a safety net for those of us that do not have the luxury of being born into families with trust funds, or do not have fully funded pensions and 401(k) accounts is to vote Democratic this November for Joe Biden/Kamala Harris and send Mr. Trump back to Mar-a-Lago, where Social Security and Medicare are not words spoken in the household.
Friends Don’t Let Friends NOT Vote!
The only way we can flip Florida blue this election is if we vote in huge numbers. Help a friend vote. Talk to them about how important their voice is this year. Know a young person who is eligible to vote for the first time? Talk with them about current events and make sure they vote early or show up at the polls on November 3.
With your help, we can and we will make a difference in our state, our country, and the world.
